AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Jailed Bahraini dissident Husain Ali al-Sahlawi is reportedly back in solitary confinement. Activists reported on Tuesday that Al-Sahlawi has been in solitary since October 3.
The reports cite the prisoner’s family members who also allege that Al-Sahlawi has been deprived of his communication privileges and that they have not heard from him for an entire week.
This is the second time that Al-Sahlawi has been thrown into solitary in just the last few weeks.
Late last month, his father pleaded with authorities at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison to halt their harassment of his son through a video shared by activists online.
Al-Sahlawi was arrested and transferred to Jaw in May 2012 after being convicted in absentia the year before.
During his time in detention, he has been a victim of extreme physical violence and degrading treatment.
According to rights groups, he still suffers regular abuse, including physical assault by the guards and restrictions to medical treatment.
