AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini female political prisoner Amal Ali Abdullah was reportedly rushed to hospital this week following health complications.
Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq movement broke the news via social media on Monday without elaborating on Abdullah’s condition.
According to Al-Wefaq, Abdullah’s health deteriorated due to medical negligence by prison authorities.
The opposition group has repeatedly called for the release of Bahraini women political prisoner, including Amal as well as her two sisters, Fatima and Iman.
The sisters were accused of aiding a ‘fugitive’ and sentenced to three years in prison in 2018.
Bahraini political and rights activists allege that the women are victims of torture and unfair trials.
