AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and France discussed the details of France and other signatories to the JCPOA’s efforts in saving the deal as a multilateral and international agreement, stressing the development and consolidation of bilateral, regional and international relations between Tehran and Paris.
Dr Hassan Rouhani and Emmanuel Macron met on Thursday evening, New York local time, on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, and discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of interest to both countries, critical conditions of the region, and Dr Rouhani’s new initiative called "Hormuz Peace Initiative".
Dr Rouhani emphasised the duties and responsibilities of other signatories to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), including France, to save the important international agreement after the US unilaterally withdraw from it
He went on to slam the statement by France, Britain and Germany issued today, and described it as making baseless accusations.
At the same meeting, Emmanuel Macron welcomed Dr Rouhani's initiative for regional security, outlining French efforts to help save the JCPOA and called for Europe’s cooperation with other signatories to the deal, particularly with Russia and China.
The French President emphasised dialogue and interaction with Iran as an influential country in the region and stressed that the constructive Paris-Tehran relations should continue.
