AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Authorities in Kabala province in Iraq announced the province a no-fly zone for drones on Ashura.
Flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the province on the day of Ashura (Tuesday) is prohibited, Hussein al-Aboudi, secretary of Karbala Province’s Security Council said, Akhbar al-Iraq reported.
He said the decision has been taken by the council in order to prevent any security breaches.
Also, the province’s police department said forces of the army and Popular Mobilization Units (also known as Hashd al-Shaabi) have been deployed to the borders of the province to ensure security.
On Tuesday, millions of Shia pilgrims will convene in the holy city of Karbala.
Shia Muslims around the world mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the Sayyid-ul-Shuhada (master of martyrs), in Muharram.
The third Shia Imam (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Moaweya, in the battle of Karbala on the tenth day of Muharram (known as Ashura) in the year 680 AD.
This year, Muharram began on Sunday, September 1, and the mourning rituals will culminate on Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram.
