AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Thousands of Muslim mothers gathered at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine concurrent with the first Friday of the month of Muharram to symbolically donate their children for the expected uprising of Imam Mahdi (AS).
The spiritual atmosphere at the holy shrine was enriched by the fragrance of incense, wild rue and rosewater. Mothers received 35 thousand special green clothing for their infants in memory of Imam Hussein’s martyred infant as well as a red headband as a sign of their belief in continuation of Ashura Uprising and being the soldiers of Imam Mahdi (AS).
The gathering was kicked off by a lecture addressed by Hoj. Hojjati. Stressing that parents must rear their children based on the conduct and character sketch of Imam Hussein (AS), he said: “Imam Hussein’s wisdom and ethical merits constitute his character sketch indeed. If mothers want to have children loyal to Imam Hossein’s path, they must avoid hatred, arrogance and jealousy.”
He added: “If we see our children being headstrong and spiteful at childhood, we must first review our past behavior to see where we have practiced those vices, so that our children have learnt them from us.”
According to him, in Karbala incident, Imam Hussein (AS) forgave Horr ibn Yazid Riahi to teach the Shia Muslims a lesson, i.e. avoiding hatred and tending to guide others instead of taking revenge.
Hojjati further noted that parents must teach their children how to make right decisions. “They must institutionalize Imam Hussein’s way of upbringing children at home and avoid ethics and behavior that go counter to the character sketch of the Infallible Imams (AS).”
The gathering continued with eulogies and recitation of poetry, and came to an end by presentation of the gathering’s covenant.
