AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement in Karbala was an act of resistance against reactionary values, and also an act of bidding for good and forbidding from bad.
The above was stated by Ayatollah Alamolhoda, the Leader's representative in Khorasan Razavi Province during a sermon at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine. “The best loyalty and attention one can have toward Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement is to practice mourning ceremonies with a full awareness over Imam’s (AS) right”.
He added: “The main goal behind holding mourning ceremonies of these kinds is not a mere review of the history of Infallible Imams’ (AS) life span or the oppression imposed on them; rather, it is to know about their practical conduct in cultural, political, and social arenas so that we can understand and conduct our duty better”.
Continuing with his remarks, Alamolhoda divided revolutions into two general categories of "explosive" and "volitional", describing the first form as happening when pressure, oppression and crime have become highly prevalent in the society. "The latter, however, happens when people seek consolidation of a political, intellectual, economic and cultural system”.
The lecturer opined that the main criterion of the second category of revolutions is to empower wills and goals rather than a regime change.
He went on to say: “The nature of Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement was volitional and that is the very common aspect of his movement with the Iranian people’s Islamic Revolution which took place in 1979. Like Imam Hussein (AS), Imam Khomeini (RA) was after establishing a new system of thought and realizing great goals”.
“Following Imam Hussein's (AS) path, Imam Khomeini (RA) did his best to revive religious values to pave the way for reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AS)”, he further noted.
Also Friday prayers leader in Mashhad, Ayatollah Alamolhoda introduced three elements of defensive, cooperative, and offensive strategies in Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement, saying: “In defensive element, Imam (AS) rose against Yazid as a criminal who was destroying the religion of Islam”.
Elaborating on implementation of cooperative aspect of Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement, Alamolhoda pointed to Imam’s journey to Kufa and said: “Imam Hussein (AS) and his family traveled to Kufa so that people of the next generations would not say he rejected allegiance by people of Kufa and this is the cooperative aspect of Imam’s movement”.
“The offensive aspect of Imam Hussein’s (AS) move was the important philosophy of Ashura and Karbala movement that is reviving God’s religion, commanding the good and forbidding from doing evils,” he concluded.
The ceremony was participated by a large number of pilgrims at Imam Khomeini Grand Portico of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine at the second night of Muharram.
