Al Khalifa Forces detain two Bahraini Shiite religious figures in connection with Ashura

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Two Bahraini Shiite religious figures have reportedly been detained in connection with the annual Ashura commemorations.

Mulla Kassim Zainuldin and Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Ojaimi were placed under arrest after being summoned for questioning along with two other Shiite clerics.

The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) said in a Twitter post on Thursday that the four were questioned over their “religious discourse around Ashura”.

Last year’s Ashura commemorations saw over a dozen Shiite religious figures in Bahrain interrogated or detained.

Ashura is a major part of the Shiite religious calendar when communities around the globe mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).
