Fifteen Bahrain's Jaw detainees threaten to go on hunger strike

Fifteen inmates in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison are threatening to go on a collective hunger strike next week over what one prisoner described as ‘deteriorating conditions.’

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Fifteen inmates in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison are threatening to go on a collective hunger strike next week over what one prisoner described as ‘deteriorating conditions.’

In an audio recording shared by activists online, the prisoner, Hassan al-Ghassra, claims the inmates are being denied their right to worship freely “especially collective rituals such as congregational prayers, mourning and supplications.”

He also said that prisoners are targeted by the guards without any real justification.

Allegations of abuse in Bahraini prisons are widespread and include denying detainees access to health care, confiscating their belongings and even depriving them of drinking water.
