AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim extended his condolences to the families of Ali al-Arab, Ahmed al-Malali and Mohamed al-Miqdad who were killed by authorities in Manama last week.
Al-Arab and Al-Malali were executed late Friday night amid an international outcry over allegations that they were tortured and denied a fair trial.
In a wave of demonstrations that followed, Al-Miqdad died after police attacked protesters with tear gas.
In a statement on Tuesday, Sheikh Qassim described the young men as martyrs who bore witness to the “dark injustice” that Bahrainis are being subjected to.
The cleric said that the regime in Manama claims to have eliminated Bahrain’s pro-democracy movement while conducting daily raids, summonses, trials, arrests, torture, citizenship revocations, deportations and even murder.
He added that no one can remain “neutral in the confrontation between justice and injustice, right and wrong, reform and corruption, values of religion and the values of ignorance.”
