Hong Kong police clash with protesters, fire tear gas

Protesters have been met with tear gas fired by police force as they demonstrated against the government in Hong Kong, following violent episodes over the previous weekend.

(ABNA24.com) Protesters have been met with tear gas fired by police force as they demonstrated against the government in Hong Kong, following violent episodes over the previous weekend.

Despite a police ban, the protest took place in Yuen Long area in response to last Sunday's train attack. On July 21, dozens of masked men attacked commuters and anti-government protesters inside the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) station of Yuen Long. Forty-five people were reportedly injured.

Since the wave of protests began in June, with hundreds of thousands marching on a weekly basis, the extradition bill has been suspended indefinitely but protesters are now demanding its full withdrawal and the resignation of Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
