(ABNA24.com) Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, a prominent source of religious emulation, made the statement during special cultural programs at Jame’ courtyard of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad.
A lecturer at Qom Seminary School, Javadi Amoli stated that the breath of a pilgrim or a neighbor of the holy shrine is the same as the breath of a worshipper. “During these days, we can divinize our breaths through worshiping Creator of the Universe or visiting shrines of the Infallible Imams (AS).”
He continued with a quotation from Imam Ali’s Nahj ul-Balagha on types of worshipping: “Those who have accepted the servitude of God are three. Some worship the God because of the fear of Hell, so their weeping is cowardly, some for the craving of the paradise, and some for loving the Almighty God, these are friends of God and they weep since they are yet to reach God.”
Elsewhere, the Ayatollah went on to say: “Sometimes it is just a sigh and sometimes a laugh. Religion does not always teach us to weep; rather, it is the beginning of the path of “coyness” for man to heed. Imam Mahdi (AS) in the opening of Iftetah Prayer teaches us to be ‘coy’ before God, in the sense that man can grow from an admirer to the admired.”
Javadi Amoli pointed out that man in the position of coyness says to God that “If I am bad, why did you reprimand me? You are greater and stronger than me and All Merciful. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. So forgive me.” This rank, he concluded, requires high level of understanding.
