Bahraini detainee rushed to prison clinic following hunger strike

Bahraini detainee Mohammed al-Singace was reportedly rushed to the Jaw Prison clinic on Sunday after nearly an entire month on hunger strike.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee Mohammed al-Singace was reportedly rushed to the Jaw Prison clinic on Sunday after nearly an entire month on hunger strike.

Local activist Ebtisam al-Saegh is reporting that al-Singace experienced a sharp drop in his blood sugar level.

Last week, news emerged that al-Singace had collapsed due to his increasingly frail condition.

It isn’t clear if he is continuing with his hunger strike following his admission to hospital.

Al-Singace was demanding his right to a free and fair trial and for his allegations of torture to be investigated as conditions for ending the strike.

He worked on bringing attention to Manama’s mishandling of poverty and inflation before he was detained and sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2012.
