AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahrain’s Shiite worshipers have reportedly been instructed by authorities not to pray at the sites of demolished Shiite mosques.
The country’s opposition Al-Wefaq movement said in a statement on Sunday that a number of people were summoned by police and ordered to sign a pledge not to organize congregational prayers at the aforementioned locations.
According to Al-Wefaq, the latest threat of punitive measures by authorities is also designed to obstruct calls for the reconstruction of the mosques.
Bahraini authorities bulldozed at least 30 Shiite religious sites over a two-month period at the height of anti-regime protests in 2011.
Since then, Shiite worshipers have regularly gathered to hold small group prayers at those sites.
