AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee Mohammed al-Singace has reportedly been on hunger strike for 24 days.
Local activist Ebtisam al-Saegh cited the prisoner’s family who claim al-Singace’s health is gradually worsening and that he has thus far experienced a sharp drop in blood sugar levels.
Meanwhile, in a Twitter post on Monday, the Washington-based Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) reported that Al-Singace has collapsed and is being pressured to end his hunger strike by prison authorities.
Al-Singace is demanding his right to a free and fair trial and for his allegations of torture to be investigated as conditions for ending his hunger strike.
He worked on bringing attention to Manama’s mishandling of poverty and inflation before he was detained and sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2012.
