AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The deputy head of Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq movement said on Monday that the Trump administration’s Palestine plan is doomed to fail and will end up in the “dumpster of history”.
Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi made the remarks while addressing the ‘Sovereignty Forum for Peace and Prosperity’ in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
The forum gathered speakers who warned of the dangers behind the US plan, which proposes a USD 50 investment fund for Palestine and some of its neighbors, but fails to address the 52-year-old Israeli military occupation of Palestinian territories.
The plan is due to be officially unveiled at a conference in Manama on Tuesday.
According to Sheikh Al-Daihi, the Manama meeting is a “dagger in the waist” of the Palestinian cause.
“The Bahrainis will remain committed to the Palestinian cause and consider any normalization of ties with the Zionist entity a betrayal,” Sheikh Al-Daihi added in reference to Manama’s recent efforts to normalize ties with Tel Aviv.
Palestinians have declined Washington’s invitation to participate in the conference and have staunchly rejected the Trump administration’s plan.
Other regional and international players are also staying away from this week’s meeting in Bahrain.
For his part, Sheikh Al-Daihi thanked all the “honorable people who boycotted the conference of shame.”
