AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini rights campaigner Ebtisam al-Saegh reported another two cases of medical negligence in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison on Sunday.
Prison authorities are reportedly ‘delaying’ treatment for 23-year-old detainee, Hussein Al-Fardan, who suffers from sickle cell anemia and is requesting to be transferred to hospital.
His father is said to have filed complaints with both the prison and Manama’s oversight bodies in the past but failed to improve Hussein’s access to health care.
Meanwhile, another prisoner, Hussein Abdulaziz Al-Mori, is being denied treatment for a skin rash.
According to Al-Saegh, the detainee also suffers from retinal detachment. Similar delays in Al-Mori’s treatment for that condition in the past have led to his partial blindness.
Both Al-Fardan and Al-Mori have served the bulk of their prison sentences but pleas for their early release on humanitarian grounds have thus far been ignored.
