AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): China and Russia are boycotting next month’s US-led economic conference in Manama, which is being used as a venue by the Trump administration to unveil its widely unpopular plan for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
China’s Ambassador to Palestine, Guo Wei, reportedly informed the Palestinian government on Monday that Beijing and Moscow had agreed not to participate in the conference.
The Palestinian Wafa news agency quoted Wei as saying that the boycott “comes within the framework of a bilateral Russian-Chinese agreement.”
Wei also expressed Beijing’s “support for the Palestinian cause and people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (al-Quds) as its capital.”
The Trump administration’s plan, which is viewed as bias in favor of Israel, has been widely rejected by the Palestinian leadership and business community.
