AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, in his ethics course, continuing the topic of familial ethics, dealt with the significant issue of child training.
This grand source of emulation stressed, “Islam advocates freedom, but not every kind of it. There is a Western type of freedom that leads to deviation and scandal; and there is an Islamic type of freedom that puts the man is free on the path of development, humanity and honour, but if s/he is diverted from the straight path, s/he is no longer free."
He said, “Islamic freedoms are the ones that direct the man towards perfection; yet, see what the outcome of the Western type of freedom is; is it anything but corruption, crimes, scandal and cruelty?”
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said, “The western type of freedom leads to scandal, inhumanity and irrationality.”
He continued, “In child training, the principle of freedom should be attended, and at the same time, his/her communications should be controlled, and if s/he is diverted, s/he should be saved.”
Saying that what trains the child is the behavior of the parents and not their words, he mentioned, “The behavior of the parents is the best lesson for the children, we hope we can choose the right path for the life of ours and our children through the Islamic ethics.”
