Usury hinders economic movement of country

Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, stating that usury hinders the economic movement of the society, said, “Usury can be justified on no pretext.”

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, stating that usury hinders the economic movement of the society, said, “Usury can be justified on no pretext.”

Hazrat Ayatollah Noori Hamedani in his regular course held in the Grand Mosque of Qom, saying that usury renders the transaction and debt/loan void, stated, “We should do our best obeying the heavenly orders”.

“No one knows all the religious rules and orders, some should be abided by unquestioningly, some are presented by narratives, but their bases or causes are not provided; and the reason understands such rules and orders, nonetheless some aren’t understood by the reason and thus, they should be abided by unquestioningly”.

“The grand teacher of Qom Seminary, stressing that the seminary teachers and students should practice more diligence about Quran, said, “the holy Quran has provided all the required directions, and jurisprudents should do their best regarding the employment and companionship with Quran”, he added.

He continued, “Some paths have been for liberation from usury, nonetheless they are not commensurate with religion, usury creates corruption in the society and hinders the economic movement of the country”.

Hazrat Ayatollah Noori Hamedian stated, “We have received many letters on the usury and the wrong performance of the banks on receiving usury and that the usury on the late payment of loans (instalments) has much damaged the production and economy of the country, therefore, such a destructive malady should be remedied as soon as possible”.

He said, “Usury can be justified on no pretext. Sanction of usury is for prevention from corruption and wronging of the society, and if usury wasn’t wrong, Ahl al-Bayt (AS) would mention the bases of this destructive act.
