AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Two Bahraini detainees have reportedly gone on hunger strike in recent days over their lack of access to proper health care.
Ali Al-Hajji and Mohamed Mirza are both claiming that prison authorities are withholding their medication and depriving them of medical treatment.
Al-Hajji has already spent more than two months on hunger strike between last November and January of this year.
A victim of torture and constant harassment, Al-Hajji was said to be suffering from numerous health complications as a result of his strike.
Meanwhile, Mirza observed his own hunger strike in August of last year after his complaints to Manama’s oversight bodies went unanswered and failed to secure him access to treatment.
Rights groups have accused Manama in the past of deliberately depriving Bahraini political prisoners of decent healthcare as a form of punishment.
