AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Speaking to the people of a village in Aqqala County, Golestan Province, President Rouhani said, “The people of Iran sympathise with the flood-stricken people, and today, everyone in Iran is thinking about Golestan, Aqqala and its villages”.

In the visit that took place on Wednesday, Dr Hassan Rouhani said, “We know that floods and problems have always been tough, especially in the beginning of new year and Nowruz”.

“The people of this region had been prepared themselves to celebrate Nowruz and visit their relatives, but these problems happened,” said Rouhani.

He also went on to say, “It is true that you have been suffering from problems, but the rain is a blessing for all of us, despite the fact that it has made problems and hardships for some people”.

He continued, “As the servant and representative of people, the government considers it its duty to be alongside you with all its facilities, and I promise you that all villages and areas in Golestan Province that have been hit by floods will be repaired”.

“Housing Foundation of the Islamic Revolution is responsible to reconstruct all houses that have been flooded and cannot be lived in,” said Rouhani.

Stating that the Council of Ministers has made decisions for repairing the damages to people’s houses and properties, he said, “We will compensate for all of these as much as we can”.

“As a servant of God, as your little brother, we will do whatever we can and we will have no resting time unless your pain and suffering and sorrow is gone,” said the President.

Dr Rouhani also said, “The main problem of this area goes back to a river that has not been taken care of. The government will do whatever it can to take care of this river and dredge it”.

Referring to the government’s work in trenching some parts of the river that has been somewhat effective, he said, “We will continue this more powerfully this year”.

We may need to construct another dam in this area, said Rouhani, saying, “It is true that this incident has made many problems for the people, but can be a lesson for all of us”.

The President also went on to appreciate the work and efforts of Minister of Interior, local officials, IRGC and Army, and all forces who helped people.
