AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A 19-year-old Bahraini was taken into police custody at the Manama airport on Monday after returning from a ‘religious trip’.
Bahraini rights campaigner Ebtisam Al-Saegh reported on social media that Ali Hussein Said had been sentenced to three years in prison over his alleged participation in the Diraz sit-in.
Meanwhile, on Friday a Bahraini bowling player was arrested as he tried to leave the country to take part in a tournament in Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Khalil received a one-year prison term for taking part in the same protest as Said.
The round-the-clock sit-in, organized in support of Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim, was violently broken up by Manama’s security forces in May 2017.
Last month, a Manama court convicted a total of 167 people over their links to the protest.
The jail sentences handed down range from one to ten years behind bars.
Since the verdict was announced, Manama’s security forces have scooped up dozens of people convicted in the trail.
