Three Bahraini female detainees failed to contact their families

Three Bahraini female detainees have reportedly failed to contact their families for several days now, raising concerns over their wellbeing.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Three Bahraini female detainees have reportedly failed to contact their families for several days now, raising concerns over their wellbeing.

Bahraini rights campaigner Ebtisam Al-Saegh reported on Friday that there has been no word from the prisoners, who are housed at the Isa Town Women’s Detention Centre, for the last 48 hours.

In a post on social media, Al-Saegh named the three as Amira Al-Qashaami as well as the two sisters Fatima and Iman Ali Abdullah.

Fatima and Iman were convicted in February of last year for allegedly aiding a ‘fugitive’. They were given three years in prison.

Meanwhile, Al-Qashaami was slapped with a five-year prison sentence over the same charge.

Rights campaigners condemned the verdicts as being “politically motivated”.
