AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Two Bahraini minors have been remanded in detention over their alleged involvement in an illegal gathering – a charge commonly used by Manama to describe peaceful anti-regime protests.
Hussein Radhi and Ali Hussein Abdulwahab were picked up by the kingdom’s security forces over the weekend after their homes were raided in the northern Bahraini village of Al Musalla.
Since then, Manama’s public prosecutor ordered that the two teenagers be detained for five days, pending an investigation.
The news has already led to condemnation from some rights campaigners, who have accused Manama in the past of routinely jailing Bahraini minors without proper cause or an arrest warrant.
