AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The deputy head of Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq group told LuaLua TV that the “Bahraini people will be victorious” in their pursuit of democratic reforms.
Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi made the remarks on the sidelines of a conference in Beirut on Friday, which marked eight years since the start of Bahrain’s popular uprising.
He accused the regime in Manama of being “delusional about having triumphed over the Bahraini people” and vowed to remain on the “path of steadfastness” that was passed down by Al-Wefaq’s jailed leader Sheikh Ali Salman.
Moments earlier he addressed the conference and directed a similar message to Bahrain’s rulers.
“You have lost all the battles you fought against your people,” he exclaimed.
Sheikh Al-Daihi also pointed to the growing degree of repression and tyranny in Bahrain over the years, which he blames for destroying the country.
The conference was also attended by foreign delegates from a number of Arab states, including Syria, Iraq and Egypt, who applauded the Bahraini people for their resilience and urged them to carry on with their struggle.
