AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The number of arrests recorded across Bahrain on Tuesday rose to 23 as the kingdom’s security services raided homes in numerous towns and villages.
Raids were reported in Bahrain’s Diraz, A’ali, Buri, Sitra, Eker, Shakhura, Nuwaidrat and Karzakan.
At some of the properties that were raided, masked officers reportedly broke down doors and ransacked the homes.
The identities of those detained have been made public by activists but there is no word yet on the charges they face.
Hundreds of Bahrainis have been taken into police custody in recent years without proper cause or an arrest warrant.
Many are subjected to torture and other forms of ill-treatment at the hands of the kingdom’s security services.
