AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini Shiite cleric Sayed Majeed Al Meshaal had his detention extended by an additional 24 hours on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the cleric had reportedly been taken to the public prosecutor’s office, but he was not questioned.
Instead, the questioning was pushed back by another day.
Sayed Al Meshaal was detained on Thursday, just days after completing a two-and-a-half year prison term.
He once chaired the now-dissolved Islamic Scholars Council, which was one of Bahrain’s leading Shiite religious institutions.
The cleric was arrested in July 2016 for participating in a round-the-clock vigil around the home of Bahrain’s highest religious authority, Sheikh Isa Qassim.
