Senior Pakistani religious leader condoles over demise of Ayatollah Shahroudi

Senior Pakistani religious leader has extended condolences over the demise of Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Senior Pakistani religious leader has extended condolences over the demise of Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, Secretary General of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) in a message said that death of Ayatollah Shahroudi is a big loss.

He added that Ayatollah Shahroudi was one of the closest companions of Imam Khomeini and had played an important role in bringing Islamic Revolution in Iran.

He said that services of the senior cleric for Iran and the Muslim world cannot be forgotten. In the message Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari said that Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) is deeply saddened over the demise of Ayatollah Shahroudi.

Ayatollah Shahroudi, passed away in Khatam ul-Anbiya Hospital in Tehran late on Monday. After a long battle with disease, he died at the age of 70.

Ayatollah Shahroudi was born in Najaf, Iraq, in 1948 and had served as a member of the Guardian Council as of 1994.

He was also judiciary chief and member of Experts Council. As of 2017, he was chairman of Expediency Council.
