AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The president of Iran's University of Islamic Religions said on Saturday Islam has never been the religion of weapons and violence, but rather the religion of mercy and affection.
During a meeting with Afghan scholars in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh Province in Afghanistan, Mohammad Hossein Mokhtari said compared to the past, Muslim scholars are now more responsible to lead people on the path toward enlightenment.
He went on to say, 'The most important problems of the Islamic world result from division and misconceptions about the teachings of the true religion of Islam.'
The enemy intends to paint a violent picture of Islam and certain extremist and Takfiri sects have unfortunately fanned the flames of the issue, the president of Iran's University of Islamic Religions added.
Mokhtari said that despite enemies' plots, the inclination towards Islam is on the rise.
He also said people should follow the footsteps of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in dealing with Muslims and non-Muslims.
