AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee and cancer survivor, Elias Al-Mulla, was reportedly transferred to hospital on Tuesday amid fears that his health is worsening.
According to local rights campaigner, Ebtisam Al-Saegh, the prisoner is suffering from similar symptoms to those he experienced before being diagnosed with cancer, including weight loss and paleness.
Al-Mulla, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2015 following years of torture and abuse.
The tumor was removed last year, but the 27-year-old still requires extensive treatment.
During his time in detention, authorities at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison have been repeatedly accused of withholding Al-Mulla’s medication and denying him access proper medical care.
