AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohamed Saleh Al-Qashami appeared before the public prosecutor on Wednesday after being summoned for questioning.
His daughter Bint al-Huda tweeted that the summons came through a phone call from the Sitra police station the night before. The authorities did not elaborate on the reasons for the summons.
In October, Sheikh Al-Qashami was interrogated for five hours over a sermon he delivered during the annual Ashura commemorations.
Earlier in 2018 he was freed after spending more than a year in detention. The cleric was arrested at his home in February 2017 along with his son and daughter and accused of aiding ‘fugitives’.
Following a mass ‘terrorism’ trial, his son Abu Al-Fadl was sentenced to 15-years in prison and his daughter Amira was given 5 years.
