AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An international conference on challenges of translating the Quran was held in Casablanca, Morocco, earlier this week.
Scholars and researchers from Morocco, Mauritania, Egypt, Tunisia, Belgium and Algeria attended the conference on Wednesday and Thursday.
One of the issues discussed at the conference was translation of words like Jihad, Ummah and Qital from Arabic other languages.
Elsewhere, the participants called for a major project by Muslim countries to translate the Quran into different languages.
They also urged efforts to counter attempts by western orientalists at presenting a distorted image of Islam and the Quran.
