AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): More than a dozen organizations, including the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Union, signed a document declaring their rejection of the looming normalization of ties between Manama and Tel Aviv.
The document dubbed the ‘Bahraini National Initiative Against Normalization’ was inaugurated on Tuesday and denounces the recently unveiled plans for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Bahrain.
Last week, a spokesperson for the Israeli premier’s office declared that Bahrain “is the next destination for Netanyahu”.
As such, the latest initiative calls on Bahrainis to express their ‘categorical rejection’ of Manama’s efforts to normalize ties with Israel and voice their support for the people of Palestine.
It echoes past United Nations resolutions and international declarations, which call for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital.
It also designates Israel as an ‘aggressor’ and an ‘occupier’ of Arab lands.
Under international law, Israel’s occupation of both the West Bank and Syria’s Golan Heights is considered illegal.
