Iran, Iraq call for improving communication services during Arbaeen

Iran and Iraq have decided to promote their commuication services given to millions of pilgrims who travel to holy cities of Iraq during the Arbaeen religious rituals.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran and Iraq have decided to promote their commuication services given to millions of pilgrims who travel to holy cities of Iraq during the Arbaeen religious rituals.

Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi and head of Iraqi Commissioners, Communication and Media Commission (CMC) Ali Naser Al-Khwildi discussed the issue in their meeting in Najaf, Iraq on Saturday.

Both sides underlined maintaining technical cooperation for presenting the best communication services and facilities during Arbaeen rituals.

Iranian minister and Iraqi official also discussed deepening cooperation in communication and technology fields.

Iran ICT Ministry is ready for establishing cooperation to exchange experiences in communication and technology fields and also in offering communication services to Arbaeen pilgrims. .

Despite the efforts made by Iranian and Iraqi officials, the considerations and conditions of some private companies in Iraq have prevented giving services to pilgrims and millions of pilgrims face disconnection in the Internet and phone calls in crowded areas of Iraq especially in Karbala and Najaf.

Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shia Muslims.

Every year millions of Iranian Shia Muslims and Muslims from other countries travel to the holy cities of Iraq to make Arbaeen pilgrimage. This year Arbaeen falls on October 30.
