AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohamed Saleh Al-Qashami was reportedly interrogated by the kingdom’s security forces for five hours before being allowed to return home.
He was questioned at the Al-Hoora police station on Wednesday over a sermon he delivered during annual Ashura commemorations last month.
Dozens of Shiite religious figures were interrogated or detained as part of Manama’s Ashura crackdown this year.
Sheikh Al-Qashami was last detained in February 2017 along with two of his children and later tried as part of a mass ‘terrorism’ trial.
He walked free earlier this year, but his son and daughter were slapped with lengthy prison terms.
