AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Pointing out that today, the most important issue in the relationship between Iran and Europe is a joint effort to strengthen and implement the nuclear deal, President Rouhani said, "Fortunately, the two sides are determined to safeguard the international agreement and have taken firm political stance in this regard”.
Speaking in a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday in New York, President Hassan Rouhani referred to the United States’ illegal withdrawn from the international agreement of the JCPOA, saying, “We should work hard to deepen cooperation and consultation to achieve an appropriate practical framework for maintaining and fully implementing this agreement, especially in economic sectors”.
The president stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the IAEA reports, has adhered to and fulfilled all its obligations, adding, "In multilateral agreements, living up to commitments by both sides must be in balance”.
Dr Rouhani commended the condolences and sympathy of the British government and people to the Iranian people over the Ahwaz terrorist attack, and criticised some western media, including those of Britain, for supporting Ahwaz terrorist attack, adding, “Today, everyone must have firm, equal stances against terrorism”.
Stressing that, “We should develop cooperation in the fight against terrorism,” the President said, “Our approach is to reduce tensions in the region and the world”.
He went on to state that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s military power is to defend the country and confront terrorism.
Dr Rouhani also said that the Yemeni crisis had no solution other than ending the war and the establishment of Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, adding, “All countries should try to stop the bloodshed and bombing in Yemen and send humanitarian aid to the innocent people in the country”.
Pointing out that the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in developing bilateral relations with Britain in different sectors, the President stated, "Development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries will lead to the deepening of economic, trade and investment ties between them".
British Prime Minister Theresa May, offered condolences to the Iranian nation over Ahwaz terrorist attack and said, "Britain condemns terrorism in all its dimensions, and considers fighting it very important”.
The British Prime Minister stressed the importance of maintaining the nuclear deal in all its aspects and the continuation of Tehran-London efforts and cooperation in this regard.
She said that resolving the Yemeni crisis was possible only through political solutions, adding, "Everyone should play their role well in delivering humanitarian aid to the crisis-hit Yemenis”.
Prime Minister May went on to note that Britain welcomed development of relations and cooperation with Iran in various sectors, including economy and energy.
