AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini authorities are continuing to interrogate the country’s Shiite clerics in connection with the annual Ashura commemorations.
On Friday, Sheikh Jaafar al-Sattari and Sheikh Abdul Amir Malulallah were summoned for questioning at the Hamad Town Police Station.
The past week alone saw over a dozen Bahraini Shiite religious figures summoned or detained.
Among them are five clerics who have been remanded in custody for 15 days pending further investigation over the content of their religious sermons.
Tens of thousands of Bahrainis marked Ashura on Thursday, which is a culmination of a 10-day mourning period during the Islamic lunar month of Muharram honoring the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).
