AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Amnesty International expressed solidarity with the demands of Bahraini activists Ali Mushaima and Zainab Al-Khawaja.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the rights group also reiterated its declaration that detaining prisoners of conscience is ‘illegal’.
On Tuesday, Zainab Al-Khawaja announced that she was joining Ali Mushaima’s hunger strike outside the Bahraini embassy in London, which he has been observing since August 1.
Ali is demanding that his father and jailed Bahraini opposition leader Hassan Mushaima be granted access to proper health care, family visits and reading materials.
Al-Khawaja, whose own father is a prominent opposition figure and human rights defender imprisoned in the Gulf kingdom, stated that Hassan Mushaima “represents the thousands of political prisoners suffering in Bahraini prisons.”
