AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee Ali Al-Haji has reportedly gone on hunger strike in a show of solidarity with fellow prisoner Hassan Mushaima.
Al-Haji, who is serving a lengthy prison term over allegedly ‘terrorism’ charges, is also protesting his own lack of access to proper health care.
The news comes just days after Mushaima’s son Ali reported that inmates at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison, the Dry Dock Detention Center as well as the Isa Town Women’s Detention Centre were planning to support his father by going on hunger strike.
Ali has been observing his own hunger strike outside the Bahraini embassy in London since August 1 over his father’s ill-treatment in detention.
Hassan Mushaima is a Bahraini opposition leader who was jailed for his role in the Kingdom’s 2011 pro-democracy protests.
He is being denied access to proper medical treatment despite his deteriorating health.
