Rights group to hold vigil outside Bahrain’s embassy following ‘attack’ on Ali Mushaima

The Inminds human rights group is organizing a vigil outside the Bahraini embassy in London on Monday afternoon in a show of solidarity with Ali Mushaima.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Inminds human rights group is organizing a vigil outside the Bahraini embassy in London on Monday afternoon in a show of solidarity with Ali Mushaima.

The group is demanding the release of Ali’s father and Bahraini prisoner of conscience Hassan Mushaima as well as an end to the British government’s “complicity” in Manama’s “crimes against the Bahraini people”.

Ali has been on hunger strike and camped outside the embassy since August 1, demanding that his ailing father be granted access to proper health care.

On Sunday morning, an unidentified member of the embassy staff allegedly “threw a foamy liquid” at Ali while he was asleep.

“This disgusting attack by the Bahraini Ambassador Fawaz Al Khalifa’s embassy is a sign of just how weak the Khalifa regime’s grip on power is that they fear one man’s hunger strike,” said the head of Inminds Abbas Ali.

“These thugs feel compelled to export the barbaric tactics they use on peaceful protestors in Bahrain to the streets of London. We will demand the police act to bring these perpetrators, of what could easily have been an acid attack, to justice,” he added.
