Bahrain's Jaw Prison detainees deprived of adequate amounts of drinking water

An unspecified number of detainees at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison are reportedly suffering from dehydration as authorities continue to deprive inmates of drinking water.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An unspecified number of detainees at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison are reportedly suffering from dehydration as authorities continue to deprive inmates of drinking water.

According to the Gulf Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (GIDHR), prisoners are being given water in very small quantities and are forced to endure thirst for extended periods of time.

Water is absolutely essential during Bahrain’s summers when temperatures tend to exceed 48°C.

It remains unclear as to why the prison authorities adopted such measures.

But allegations of abuse are frequently circulated about Jaw Prison. Over the years, these included the systematic use of torture and depriving prisoners of medical care.
