AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Two jailed Bahraini opposition figures are said to be in critical condition as a result of their deteriorating health.
According to activists on the ground, Hassan Mushaima and Abdulwahab Hussain are both suffering from alarmingly high blood sugar.
Both have been denied access to proper medical care and endured years of ill-treatment while in detention.
Hassan Mushaima, who served as the secretary-general of the opposition Haq Movement, is a cancer survivor and suffers from multiple health conditions including diabetes.
Meanwhile, Abdulwahab Hussain, the co-founder of Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq society, suffers from a chronic neurological disorder.
The two men are serving life sentences for their role in Bahrain’s popular uprising in 2011.
