AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim is expected to be in surgery for hours on Tuesday.
In a brief statement, the team tasked with overseeing his health reported that the surgery is due to commence just before noon.
Last week, the team noted that two medical professionals have been assigned to treat the ailing cleric for an unspecified condition.
Sheikh Qassim was hospitalized in late June for severe pelvic and back pains after spending over a year under house arrest.
Several days later, he was permitted to leave Bahrain and seek treatment abroad.
He arrived in London on July 9 and was immediately taken to hospital.
