(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Jailed Bahraini opposition figure Hassan Mushaima is suffering from high blood sugar after being deprived of his medication for over four months.
In a post on their official Twitter page, the Mushaima family reported on Wednesday that the prisoner, who is diagnosed with diabetes, has not been given his medication for 135 consecutive days.
In the past, the family has repeatedly accused prison authorities of endangering the life of the 70-year old.
Mushaima suffers from multiple health conditions. He is also a cancer survivor and requires Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans every six months.
Mushaima served as the secretary-general of the opposition Haq Movement before being sentenced to life in prison over his role in Bahrain’s 2011 uprising.
