(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahraini prisoner of conscience Hajar Mansoor Hassan was transferred to the clinic at the Isa Town Detention Centre on Sunday.
Her son-in-law and exiled Bahraini rights campaigner Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei reported that Hajer was hospitalized for exhaustion and psychological trauma resulting from acts of “retribution” by the head of the prison Maryam Albardoli.
Last week, Alwadaei revealed that Albardoli prevented his mother-in-law from attending a previously scheduled family visit.
The reprisals came in response to criticism of Manama by independent experts at the UN Human Rights Committee.
Hajar was sentenced to three years in prison for allegedly planting “fake bombs”.
Rights groups maintain that the verdicts are retaliation for Alwadaei’s outspoken criticism of Manama’s abusive policies.
The judicial process, which was marred violations also ignored allegations of torture and coerced confessions.
