(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) is urging the International Committee of the Red Cross to address the case of Bahraini detainee Haidar Al-Mulla and insure that his rights are being respected.
17-year-old Haidar went on hunger strike last week after spending over a month in solitary confinement and being denial medical care.
According to the BCHR, the teenager remains in solitary and is still being deprived of treatment for injuries sustained during torture.
The rights group also reported that Al-Mulla was severely beaten for refusing to sign a false confession.
Arrested at the age of 15, Al-Mulla was sentenced to 23 years in prison and stripped of his Bahraini citizenship over ‘terrorism’ charges.
