(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The already jailed Bahraini female activist and torture victim Najah Al-Sheikh was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday.
She was convicted of attempting to ‘overthrow the regime’ over posts on social networking sites, criticizing the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2017.
Following her arrest last year, Al-Sheikh was interrogated by Manama’s National Security Agency (NSA) at the now infamous Muharraq police station where countless activist were subjected to brutal torture.
She later filed a complaint with Bahrain’s Ombudsman of the Ministry of Interior outlining the abuses she endured, which included beatings and sexual assault.
