(AhlulBayt News Agency) - LBahraini prisoner of conscience Hajer Mansoor Hassan was finally taken to hospital on Thursday after being denied medical treatment for three months.
Hassan reportedly suffers from chronic back pain – a condition that requires her to see a specialist.
During her check-up on Thursday, the doctor ordered the prison administration to allow Hassan to receive the necessary physical therapy.
Hassan is the mother-in-law of exiled Bahraini rights campaigner Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei. She was sentenced to three years in prison for allegedly planting “fake bombs”.
Rights groups maintain that the verdict is retaliation for Alwadaei’s outspoken criticism of Manama’s abusive policies.
Over the course of the last twelve months, Hassan observed a number of hunger strikes to protest her ill-treatment in detention.
