(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Bahraini authorities refrained from revealing the detention place of 2 Bahraini women who were arrested by the Special Forces on Thursday (May 17, 2018), after raiding their houses in Nuwaidrat.
Zakiya Al-Barbouri (28 years) and Fatima Dawoud Hassan (19 years) have been only allowed to call their families once since their 28 days of arrest.
The Public Prosecution rejected a request by a lawyer to meet the 2 detainees at their detention place and ordered (on June 6, 2018) to arrest them 30 days pending investigations. The families of the detainees expressed their concern about the arrest conditions of their daughters and fear of them being subjected to torture.
In Britain, Lord Paul Scriven raised a parliamentary question to the UK government on whether it is aware of the detainees' arrest reports or the party standing behind these measures.
