(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Jailed Bahraini activist Nabeel Rajab was permitted to see his son Adam for the first time in a year.
Adam wrote in a Twitter post on Friday that the visit lasted 30 minutes.
“Left the prison with a feeling of strength and pride. He looked strong despite awful conditions he is facing,” he tweeted.
Rajab is currently appealing a 5-year prison sentence, which he received in February for posting critical tweets of the Saudi-led war in Yemen and Manama’s mistreatment of prisoners.
The final ruling in the case is expected on June 5. Adam expressed hope that the court would “set him free!”
The activist is also serving a separate 2-year sentence over television interviews and faces additional charges over op-eds published in western newspapers.
The United Nations and numerous foreign governments have called for Rajab’s immediate release, accusing Manama of stifling dissenting voices.
